Yesterday Wendy O'Kane was joined by long time Rotarian John Eddy for our bi-weekly "Angels of Service" trip.
Each time the group purchases food and toiletry items to distribute to various locations around the desert. These funded by our Rotary "Happy Dollars" from individus at the meeting.

With another perfect day in Palm Desert ????, many attendees were understandably reluctant to come inside — who can blame them? Eventually,
everyone made their way in, comforted by the knowledge that the sunshine would still be waiting after the meeting ??.
President Priscilla Dewing brought the meeting to order, though her voice struggled to carry without a microphone ??. Thankfully, once one arrived, the room settled quickly and Jack Fitsimmonds led us in a proud flag salute ????.
We welcomed guests and several familiar faces we hadn’t seen in a while — great to have you back with us! ?? Tom Tragesser then stepped forward to introduce our speaker for the day.
?? Allan H. Jensen, Managing Director of the Green Room Theater Company, shared the inspiring work his organization does across the Coachella Valley. Their mission: “To bring professional theater, dance performances, and education directly to under-resourced communities.” ??
Celebrating their 18th season, the Green Room Theater continues to bring creativity and culture to our region. Donations are always appreciated, and anyone wishing to support their efforts can visit https://grtccv.org/ ??.
Next, our Foundation Chair Amy Laboda took center stage. She delivered a clear, much?needed explanation of how our Foundation operates — where funds come from, how they’re used, and the impact they make. A valuable
refresher for all Rotarians ????.
We then heard “from the source” updates from Ryland Penta, who shared news about improvements happening around our desert. One highlight: Country Club Drive will soon have new lines and markings — keep an eye out, fellow Rotarians! ????
A wave of Happy Dollars followed ????, including celebratory contributions for Kevin Elliot’s 25th birthday ??. And in a moment of great Rotary spirit, Tom drew the winning white marble and claimed the $100+ reward… only to gift it right back to the club! ?? Thank you, Tom!
Jack closed the meeting with a reading of the 4?Way Test ?. Afterward, members stayed to mingle, connect, and continue strengthening the bonds that help us serve those in need throughout our community ??????.
