“Oh, what a Night” it was! It marked the end of Angelique’s term and the beginning of Priscilla’s year. Members, spouses, children, and a recently deposed Queen attended the event, which had a “Camping” theme. The recently demoted District Governor Judy Zulfiqar and Palm Desert Mayor Jan Harnik oversaw proceedings. Carol Winston officiated the event, with Angelique’s husband Victor leading the Flag Salute and Judy Lozano’s grandson Tristan reciting the four-way test.👏

Priscilla introduced her daughters along with other spouses and friends. Honorary member Nancy Westerholm was also present. Mark Stanley and Ricardo Loretta gave short monologues before Carol and Leroy presented Angelique with a custom-made camping chair. Judy Z delivered a short speech, reflecting on their year at the top. Priscilla Dewing then took on the mantle of President for the 2025-2026 season, outlining her theme of “Unity and the strength of working together.” The new Board members received specific pins for their positions. The evening concluded with a renewed resolve for the year and eager Rotarians ready to join in the tasks ahead.

Today was President Angelique’s last official meeting in her term. Actual celebrations will take place on July 1st, but she presided over today’s gathering with charm and eloquence. Buffy kicked off with the flag salute and finished with the four-way test.

Due to the Rotary International conference in Calgary, attendance was low, those that did attend could not find a reason to miss today’s speaker but came along anyway!

The presenter for the meeting was none other than your scribe, Mark Stanley! The talk was about his life in a 1,000-year-old school and a 1,300-year-old cathedral back in the UK. He brought his wife along to factcheck and verify his talk... he was glad of the support.

The talk spanned the year from when he joined at 6or 7 years old to when he left. The talk was illustrated with many embarrassing (for Mark) slides which depicted his cherubic years in the Cathedral choir.
Thank you to Jim Brock for managing the non responsive slide changer!
